Temporary Roof Systems for Mountbatten Leisure Centre in Portsmouth

In 2024, Cat Scaffolding was awarded a major temporary roofing project for Portsmouth City Council at the Mountbatten Centre, a leading leisure centre and sports facility in Portsmouth.

Working closely with TRAD UK and DESSA, our team delivered one of the largest and most complex temporary roof installations in the country. The £800K project required detailed planning, technical precision and close collaboration across all partners to ensure works were completed safely and on schedule.

Two different temporary roofing systems were installed to suit the structural demands of the building. The DESSA system was used to cover the high-level sports hall roof, spanning an impressive 44 metres. The lower-level roof areas were protected using a traditional tube and fitting scaffold structure with corrugated sheeting.

Working alongside engineers from Seshatic Design, this highly sensitive leisure centre project was successfully delivered within a live public environment, maintaining safety, structural integrity and programme deadlines throughout.
